Tasks

Let Twitch viewers add tasks in chat and follow progress on a shared board.

Use Tasks when you want everyone to follow work as it happens during an event. The board is read-only for your audience; people add and complete their own work through Twitch chat.

Run the task board

1. Create a Session and share its event link before the event.
2. In Settings, select Connect Twitch. If Greenhouse says Twitch bot unavailable, contact Greenhouse support before the event.
3. Open the Session when you are ready for people to work.
4. Ask people to add and complete their tasks in chat.
5. Ask the audience to open Tasks from the event page to follow progress.
6. Close the Session when audience participation ends.

People can open the task-board page before, during, and after the event, but tasks appear only while the Session is open. Before it opens, the page says the event has not started; after it closes, the page says the event has ended.

The board lists each person’s oldest unfinished task as Current, later unfinished tasks as Queued, and finished tasks as Complete. Greenhouse updates these groups automatically. Because !done without a number completes a person’s newest unfinished task, use !done #<number> when someone needs to finish the task shown as Current.

Chat commands

Use these commands in Twitch chat while the Session is open.

!todo <task>

Adds a task for the sender. Task text is limited to 100 characters, and one person cannot add the same unfinished task twice.

!wip

Replies in chat with the sender’s current task, or says they have none.

!done, !done <number>, and !done #<number>

!done completes the sender’s newest unfinished task. To complete a specific task, add the number shown beside it on the board, for example !done 7 or !done #7. A person cannot complete someone else’s task.
