Questions

Collect, prioritise, and feature audience questions during a live event.

Use Questions when you want your audience to raise topics while you teach or stream. On the public Questions page, people can ask and boost without showing their names. Questions sent through Twitch stay attributed in Twitch chat, and you see the Twitch name in the queue.

Run a question period

1. Create a Session and share its event link before the event.
2. When you are ready to take questions, open the Session.
3. Ask people to open Questions from the event page.
4. On the Session page, select Manage questions. Watch the queue, feature questions you want to address, and archive questions you have finished with.
5. When audience participation is over, return to the Session page and select Close session.

Questions accepts new questions and boosts only while the Session is open. There is no separate switch to turn it on. You can still review and archive questions after the Session closes, but you can only feature a question while the Session is open.

What your audience can do

People see questions in the order they arrive. They can write a question of up to 500 characters and add one Boost to a question they want you to prioritise. Each person can submit up to five questions per minute and boost up to 20 questions per minute. Greenhouse stops people from adding a question that is already in the Session.

The audience sees the question, its Boost control, and a Featured label when you choose a question to highlight. Their names and boost totals are not shown. You see boost totals and, for questions sent from Twitch, the Twitch name.

Choose what to address

Your queue puts the most-boosted questions first. Select Open display to open the presentation window. Select Feature on a question to show it there, Postpone to clear it without removing it from the queue, and Archive to remove it from the audience’s question list. You can restore archived questions later.

Optional Twitch intake

To take questions from Twitch, open Settings and select Connect Twitch before the event. If you see Twitch bot unavailable, contact Greenhouse support before the event.

When Twitch is connected and the Session is open, chat messages that begin with q: or !q followed by a question enter the same queue:

Public participants do not see the Twitch attribution for these questions, but hosts do.

Keep the queue moving

The public Questions page updates as people ask questions, boost them, or as you feature, postpone, archive, and restore them. When nobody has asked a question, people see No questions yet. After the Session closes, people can no longer submit or boost questions.
